So my Daughter is going to be one on thursday! Time flies doesn't it guys.

Anyway, i was wondering if i could ask a huge favor. Could someone with a TV Tuner in their computer, record the noon news on Channel 15 this thurday the 3rd? Audrey should be on their First Birthday's list and i think it would be fun to add it to her Birthday Video we're making for her party this weekend. I'd just pop in a VHS Tape, but i don't any easy way to change it over to digital to burn it to the DVD. The broad cast is only 30 min long and i could give you access to my Dropbox account to put it so i could drag it off. I'd even be willing to meet up to grab it off DVD thursday night or friday evening.

Please let me know if you have the capability to do this and are willing to help me out. About the only other thing i can think to do would be to Video Tape it, but i'm not sure the quality will be any good.

If anyone else has another idea of how to capture it, i'm all ears!

I'll try to remember to set this up on my HTPC that has a tuner card in it. Do you know how soon after the broadcast starts that it will be on? Reason I ask is that it seems the TV channels aren't exactly in sync with the Internet Time Servers, my recording starts "late" by a few minutes and runs past the end of a show.

The feature i'm wanting is usually at the middle or end of the broadcast. the first few minutes of the news is typically breaking stories and anything to keep you from turning the channel. Kids 1st birthday pictures usually isn't that attention getting. Although all the kids are pretty cute!

Would it help you at all if i text you around 11:30 as a reminder?

I greatly appreciate your help, and i think when i get a bigger monitor, a TV Card is something i'll be getting as my main TV isn't even a flat screen and we only have the farmer 12 for channels. I'd rather spend the money on internet than TV channels...

Yeah if you want to text me that would be good just so I can make sure it didn't put itself into suspend/sleep or that one of my kids didn't hit the very convenient to access power button. You have my # I am pretty sure.

And there is nothing wrong with not paying for TV. The only thing we pay for is a Netflix subscription for the streaming. That's integrated into WMC7 + Hulu Free + the broadcast channels that I can DVR.

The only content delivered to our TV is via the HTPC & it doesn't have a tuner card. We just simply don't bother with OTA crap because of the 1:3 commercial ratio... An hour show is 20 minutes commercials & 40 minutes show. A half hour show is 10 minutes commercials & 20 minutes show. If we want to watch something, we follow this order:

* Is it on Hulu?
* Is it on Netflix?
* Is it on TPB?

Didn't mention I have a post-process script that runs nightly to strip commercials. Works most the time. On the times that it doesn't, yeah, slight PITA to keep hitting the FFD/RWD buttons. Also torrenting is strictly prohibited on my connection.

Not being a pirate myself, I didn't know what it meant either. No reason to edit out the comment because you think it was retarded, especially when it isn't even your thread.
