I'll be renewing mine in the next couple days. If I don't my monthly cost will go from $80 to $120, for less actual service. BOHICA

Wow...they really don't want any customers, do they?

Gonna have to renew Ken's phone to keep him on the $10 add-a-fish plan.

lets see my monthly bill is $197.40 total including all tax & misc charges
2x smart phones w/1500mins unlimited txt & data
1x wireless modem w/ unlimited data
between the 3 devices roughly 24GB used this last time.

And next month with out the modem my bill will be going down to $141 roughly.
cause they will not upgrade it to 4g and keep unlimited so canceling it.

Looking at new pricing to squeeze out the best deal
2x smart phones = $80
10GB of data = $100
Keep modem on separate plan for better pricing
1x modem = $20
10GB of data = $60
but lets not forget I went 4GB over so looking at small print on data overage it is $15 per 1GB or you can up it 2GB for $10, so lets go with the 2x $10 per 2GB for each plan
grand total = $280 before tax and misc charges to cover only 24GB
if I go over that then I will be looking at a $300+ bill.

It is a good thing my wife wants a dumb phone, it is much cheaper! (~$110 for her phone plus my unlimited data smartphone on Sprint, plus $20 for DSL)

Ugh, can't decide on which phone I want. None of the current gen phones really ticks all the boxes on my wishlist.

Droid 4 -
Love: the size, form factor, and hardware keyboard
Hate: Runs Android 2.3, Motoblur, no date set from Moto on when it might get Android 4

Galaxy SIII -
Love: Runs Android 4, best processor and loads of RAM
Hate: Huge 4.8" screen, won't be out in time for my upgrade (7/9)

Galaxy Nexus
Love: Clean Android 4, good specs
Hate: Weaker antennas, battery life isn't that good

Going to check out the local Verizon store this week to play with these in person.

I'm loving the battery life of my Razr Maxx. I left wifi tethering (FoxFi) on for an entire day (45 minutes of which was used for Netflix on my tablet), talked for 30 minutes, used an intense live wallpaper, & played plants vs zombies for about 45 minutes. Battery was still 30% at bed time. I'm pretty sure nothing I do will ever kill 3300 mAh in a single day. That alone is reason enough to love the phone, IMO. Once it gets Android 4.0, I'll be even happier.

Ended up ordering the Droid 4. With all the stacking discounts I had available, I ended up only paying $70 for the phone, and my plan price and features stay the same.

Not a bad choice. Let me know how the battery life does for you. I'm thinking 3300mAh is overkill in a phone. I'm finding that the Blur isn't quite as bad in this generation as it was on the Droid X. Hopefully you're happy with what Verizon pretty much forced you into.

So do you think other carriers are gonna start jumping on the bandwagon too? Sad

Guess of those that don't have land lines will have to get land lines again and get miles and miles of copper wire to carry on about your daily lives. hey I wonder if you could use a winch on a truck for this? eh, bad joke I guess. Rolling Eyes

I don't complain about mobile data costs. I'm glad to have unlimited as long as it lasts. However, our government (as in most things) has managed to totally muck up the wireless spectrum so badly that we're getting close to a "spectrum crunch".

money.cnn.com/2012/02/.../index.htm

We're basically seeing the cellular companies preparing themselves for the cheap-data bubble burst that will likely come in the next two years. Supply & demand are going to collide very soon. My guess is that prices will go up about 50% further ($45 to $50/mo for 2GB). Nerds will continue to have smart phones. Corporations will reevaluate giving every employee an iPhone. The drooling masses will switch back to feature phones.

Unless....the FCC pulls head from arse & frees up enough low-band spectrum to feed our desire to increase the supply of low-band frequencies, several of which were supposed to be freed up from TV stations a decade ago...

This is the reason so many of us ran out to get phone upgrades we didn't need, just so we can maintain our enormous bargain on unlimited mobile data usage. We're living in an age of magic & some of us have unlimited mana Razz

gadgetsoup.com/2012/04...sss-model/

This article explains an alternative solution. This is the reason I only upgraded one of our two smart phones. My wife only uses about 300MB/mo & I'm holding out & waiting patiently for Republic Wireless' Beta Wave K. If I like it, I'll let my wife have the Razr Maxx & I'll switch to a $20/mo service. I'm near wifi 95% of the time, so Republic Wireless should work great for me. If it doesn't, then my wife should be just fine on it since she's such a light data user.

Got the Droid 4 activated on Tuesday. Unfortunately, 4G service sucks in my apartment in Waynedale. I've got 2-3 bars most of the time, but it still constantly drops and reacquires the connection. Funny enough, I get 4 bars of 4G in Bluffton with no issues at all. Which actually works out, since ~80% of my data usage is at work.

So any of you Razr Maxx users get lucky to get the ICS update yet?
