Anyone played this? Saw the interview on Ars Technica and have been reading through the wiki. Looks like it could be a fun LAN party game, as it's multi-player only. Think Descent but in open space with space troopers instead of ships. Weapons are basic, several maps available now, more to come. It's $20 on Steam.
The only caveat is that it's DX10-only. That means no WinXP. The system requirements a little rough too: E6600 & 8800GT are the minimums, Q6600 and GX260 recommended. I think I'll buy it and see if we might like it. (Will also see if you have to be logged into Steam to play )

I bought it when it was only $5.00 and it's a good game concept, but i really haven't spent much time figuring it out. the 3rd demension of it really messes with you because shots can come from anywhere. Plus i couldn't figure out where to get new guns from and there aren't any upgrades that i can see for playing longer and stuff, which can help change up the gameplay...

Nope, only 1 gun, 3 grenade types. It's more about skill and tactics than "guy with bigger gun wins".

I dont have a problem with skill and tactics, i just like to have options on which skill i need to get good at. Like if i could have a special jet pack to get closer, or a sniper rifle...

FYI: Steam is having a free weekend for Shattered Horizon this weekend and a 50% off sale through Sunday. For $10 it's worth picking up. I'm downloading now.
I have 3 3-day guest passes available if anyone wants to try it after this weekend.

This is right up my alley. If anyone else is interested, let me know by Monday and I'll split the cost of a 4-pack. Keep in mind ya need Vista or 7 (or plan on upgrading soon) to play it. If interested PM me or just reply here, if we hit 4 people I can pick it up and people can PayPal me to get their codes.

I think this will be a good LAN game, once people upgrade to Win7. I spent a couple hours playing on Sunday, and it's weird getting used to fighting in 3 dimensions again. I almost want to use a joystick to maneuver, but I think it would be too slow. Might try it this week to see how it goes. With 1 gun, 3 grenades, and no achievement bonuses, we shouldn't have to worry about Paco complaining about a leveling system and unfair "advantages". You do gain "rank" as you win games, score points, and get kills, but it doesn't effect your character.

Yes but getting him to upgrade his OS before he builds a new PC will be damn near impossible! I nabbed a copy as well, can't wait to try it at a LAN. Garfi3ld from LanOC also picked up a copy.
